Hi: There are numerous books out there about exactly that, and I have at least three or four on my own bookshelf. As for cost, if you are doing it yourself, it takes the same amount of paint no matter what color you use. Or you could dream up your own new pattern. Just be consistent.

I just got a rain lamp yesterday off ebay,, spent 4 hours cleaning it up.. greenery , strands,, basin,,, but for the life of me could not get the top or bottom off to clean that.... so I did the best I could.. then added the oil.. turned it on,, the motor runs.. nice and quietly,, but no rain making...
