I have a home built in 1952 which is on a slab with the heating in the floor and vented through the baseboards. I have been looking for new heating vents for some time without any luck. The originals were painted metal measuring 13 by 5 1/4 with a one inch depth.

In an inconspicuous area try heating the adhesive with a blow dryer or heat gun. When the adhesive turns soft scrape up as much as you can using a paint scraper. Dont try to scrape it all up as you may damage the floor. Then try removing the rest with the adhesive cleaner you purchased.
