Years ago I saw a replacement window track - I believe it was vinyl. You could keep your old window sashes and simply install this track for them to glide in.

Sorry I was unclear. The jambs, window sashes and the tracks are all wood right now, we would like to replace the wooden slides with vinyl to hopefully save energy.
